BJELOVAR - CULTURAL CENTER OF BILOGORA AREA
This city has a rich political, military, economic, cultural and sporting tradition.
Bjelovar is one of the younger cities in Croatia, formed the 1756th the decision of the Empress Maria Theresa. Planned and built and has a proper square layout of streets in the city center. In a centuries-long tradition of producing milk and cheese so Bjelovar sometimes called "the city of cheese." Bjelovar is situated on a plateau in the southern part of Bilogora. Sited between the river and Bjeloacke Plavnice. The oldest archaeological sites from the Neolithic find in the suburb Bjelovar, ibises, where the basement during the building of the house Joseph Horvatića found foxholes. Excavations have been recognized as part Starčevo culture (about 5000th to 4300th BC). The site was identified as the most western of this guy Neolithic culture called Cranes facies or Starčevo - Final. Bjelovar were found around the site Korenovo Culture, Sopot culture, Lengyel Culture and Vučedol culture. No other historical periods have left a mark in this area.
