Brijuni Islands are the only national park in Istria, with its 14 islands, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the Mediterranean.
The Brijuni islands are located near the southwest coast of Istria, near Pula. Brijuni islands are former intersection of European and international jet-set. Brijuni Islands are the only national park in Istria, with its 14 islands that occupy 736 hectares. Park combines the beautiful nature, a great variety of animal species and rare and rich flora in one place. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the Mediterranean.
The Brijuni archipelago today is certainly one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Croatia.
Important archaeological sites are: Gradina, Roman villa in Verige, Castrum and church of St. Mary.
