
NATURAL RESOURCES OF NIN - HABITATS AND PLANT SPECIES
Nin is located in a shallow lagoon that is surrounded by natural sandy beaches. The unique part of its natural heritage are the healing mud and climatic conditions of the area.
In Nin there are 3 rare plant species: prickly creeping twitch, Savoy pointed, Caspian and 4 endemic plant species: Dalmatian white silk, procjepak meadow, and wetland Liburnian Carnation bow and animals: Fish obravan (Aphanius fasciatus) and crab slaništar (Artemia salina ). Also about 150 bird species of which are important to critically endangered endemic bird Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) and Kentish Plover - (Charadrius alexandrinus). Habitats are protected under the Habitats Directive and the EU are covered by Natura 2000 network.
