The square is named after the most significant national poet not only of the Makarska Riviera but also the entire Dalmatia, Andrija Kačić Miošić, author of the famous book, which has so far undergone 64 editions.
In the city center, near the waterfront is the largest city square - Andrija Kačić Miošić Square with his monument in the middle, the work of Ivan Rendic, erected in 1890. The square also holds a variety of entertainment and other events.
