
ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The most famous and certainly the most valuable museum piece is famous linen book of Zagreb (Liber linteus Zagrabiensis), the longest surviving manuscript text Etruscan language and the only preserved copy of the linen books throughout the ancient world.
Permanent exhibition: Lapidary, Prehistoric, Egyptian, numismatic and the introductory part of the Antiquity Collection.
Archaeological Museum in Zagreb operates independently since 1939. years, previously worked within the National Museum. Situated in the historicist palace Vranyczany-Hafner at Zrinjevac. The museum collection now includes approximately 400,000 different artifacts.
The museum collection has been analyzed in Collections: prehistoric, ancient (Greek and Roman monuments) and early medieval collection. The Museum has an Egyptian collection, the only of its kind in this region, as well as the numismatic collection, one of the largest such collections in Europe and worldwide.
The museum owns a unique collection of Etruscan monuments. The Museum cares for archaeological park "Andautonia" in Šćitarjevo, where the remains of the ancient city from the time of first to 4 century.
