
FRA LUKA IBRIŠIMOVIĆ
Luka Ibrišimović (Pozega or Sibinj, around 1626. - Pozega, March 1698.) Franciscan, counter-fighter and leader of the uprising in Slavonia.
He was educated in Velika, and probably in Rome. He served as the guardian and the Nasice. In 1675. he became a Franciscan Definitor "Silver State". Zagreb bishop Martin Borkovic appointed him on 22 ožujka 1675 his vicar in Turkish Slavonia.
The 1683. the last march on Habsburg monarchy, the Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa is with its 200 000 soldiers managed to to get to Vienna by a two month siege. But 12th September Polish and German soldiers arrived to help, and were horribly shattered the Turkish army. Great victory has encouraged other nations and their rulers, and the encouragement of Pope, Habsburg monarchy the Venetian Republic and Poland have signed an alliance of the "Holy League" to the final liberation from the Turks.
While the Imperial Army freed Hungary, Croatia, Croatian Vice-Roy's army, the people raised an armed rebellion against the enemy.
On the hill Sokolovac near Pozega, Fra Luka and the National army defeated the Turks, and on this occasion was nicknamed Sokol, 12 March of the year 1689. Fra Luka and his National Army have played a major role in the liberation of Slavonia. Slavonia was liberated year 1691. and Fra Luka was immediately organized colonization of devastated areas and the construction of the church.
As Fra Luka organized and lifted people to rise for the final liberation from the Turks in Slavonia, so had a priest Marko Mesic with the help of Ban's border-crossing and Army liberated Lika and Krbava at the year of 1689.
