
MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
The collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art today is around 12 000 works of contemporary art, works of local and foreign authors created after 1950.
Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, founded in 1954. with the aim of monitoring, documenting and promoting events, styles, and phenomena in contemporary art. The new museum building opened in 2010th year, designed by architect Igor Franić on one of the main roads that link important historical center and New Zagreb. North side of the building, facing the city park, is scheduled to open-air exhibitions. The ground floor is dedicated entirely to a variety of amenities for visitors - the space for art workshops, multimedia hall, to a smaller exhibition space, museum shops and cafes. Exhibit spaces are arranged on three floors, and their variety provide a flexible relationship between the permanent and temporary exhibition space, and provide a variety of opportunities for the realization of demanding exhibition projects. The Museum's collection now contains about 12,000 works of modern art works by local and foreign authors created after the 1950s. year. A smaller part of the collection consists of works from the first half of the 20th century whose presence is crucial to the understanding of modern and contemporary art. The museum contains the following collections: art, prints, posters and works on paper, film and video collection, a collection of photos, media art collection, a collection of sculptures and paintings collection.

Exhibition "bombarding" ocular nerves

Miroslav Šutej with only 29 years, but was a star on the European art scene: he won the Grand Prix at the Youth Biennale in Paris, and he was our representative at the Venice Biennale. In addition, the work of "The bombing of the optic nerve," purchased the New York MoMA, as the masterpiece of op-art, and so far the audience in Croatia did not have a chance to see. After the op-art constantly had new research and a variety of papers, for example, mobile graphics, futuristic anti-fashion drawings, installations, and worked and design - many will remember, and his cult maverick of the legendary television quiz. For his work he received sixty awards. He also worked on television animation, set design and design and interior decoration. He designed the flag and coat of arms of the Republic of Croatian and coat of arms and flag of the Croatian President. With Simon Šutej and Vilka Žiljka designed the Croatian kuna banknotes. He was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in to a large hill, and a regular member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (CASA) - academician. He lived and worked in Zagreb and Kutina and the 1968th lived and worked each year by three months in Motovun in Istria, where he established the Foundation Miroslav Šutej. The work of Miroslav Šutej (1936-2005) is rich, varied, branching métier, ludic, visually memorable, always on the trail of a new experiment and question the possibilities for artistic expression. Criticism it is unanimously considered to be genuine innovator, inventor of new artistic possibilities, both in the medium of drawings, prints, collages, objects and environments.
Exhibition Miroslav Šutej with more than four hundred works, the largest and most comprehensive retrospective of the artist, in chronological and thematic order to encompass all phases of his work. For the first time in the exhibition space will be children's corner: "Mini Šutej" which will be a workshop, replicas Šutejevih works and Toshiba tablet with animations mobile graphics. The exhibition is accompanied by a rich educational program that will be held throughout the summer, lectures and thematic discussions.
