The museum is located in a building that was in 1951. designed by renowned Croatian architect Stjepan Planic.
The beginnings of the Museum of Sveti Ivan Zelina are dating since 1977. , when the Heritage Collection was established. In 1988. a Heritage Museum was founded, now the Museum of St John Zelina.
Museum is located in downtown of sveti Ivan Zelina in the building that was in 1951. designed by renowned Croatian architect Stjepan Planic. The building was originally intended as the village hall, but later it was a school, and after that a textile industry, "Zelinka."
The holdings are objects from prehistory to the present day. The museum has no permanent collection and the material is exhibited at temporary exhibitions.
Museum has about 14,000 items arranged in 16 collections.
