Fort Nehaj is a symbol of Senj. It was built in 1558. Under the supervision of Captain John Lenković. It was built of materials destroyed churches, monasteries and houses outside the city walls. It has a square shape and is oriented toward the cardinal. The high is 18, and 23 m wide walls are 2-3.30 m thick, tapering towards the top and ending with the crown on which five little towers. Today is here and Exhibition City of Senj noble crests and various conferences and cultural events. Top of the fort served as a lookout. Hence the vigilant guard observe the approach of Senj from land and sea, and received smoke and light signals from their supporters from the islands and the coast. On top of offering a nice view on the Croatian coast, the islands of Rab, Krk, Goli, Prvic, Cres, and the Velebit mountain, Učka and Gorski Kotar.
