Ideas for weekend

After the Turkish conquests in Bosnia in 1463, inhabitants of the settlement Prhovo, Siroke and Krusevo fled to safer regions called havens, and in the end of the 15th century, they inhabited a small island called Gola Glava, located near the coast. Since 1564 the settlement has been known as Primosten. At that time the settlement was protected by the walls and towers and a draw bridge was the only communication with the mainland. So the island was over bridged, and that's how it got its name Primosten (over bridged). When Turks retreated, the draw bridge was replaced by the causeway.
Primosten is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Dalmatia (organized tourism is developing the 60-ies), and one of the most picturesque small towns on the Adriatic, with a number of typical narrow streets in the old town on the peninsula. In 30-odd villages and hamlets of Primosten Burnji, in the hinterland of Primosten, tourists are offered accommodation and home-cooked food (ham, cheese in olive oil, lamb, baked dishes, and macrobiotic food - chickpea, olive oil, lentils), and other traditional dishes. In addition, to taste the famous red wine Babic is produced from autochthonous varieties in famous vineyards in stone. These vineyards are granted the official status of a monument to human efforts and their representation is located in the lobby of the UN building. The summer months are placed hosts numerous cultural events and entertainment programs, such as the Primosten fiesta and usages (the first week in August). In particular, we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Loret (9th and 10th May) and Our Lady of Porto (27th of July), when a big procession around the town and on the sea.
