Fortress Fortica is located at the top of Dinara Mountain. For piracy that was very important because it is the one place could monitor a large area both on land and at sea. In fact the tower Fortress overlooks the whole city, Cetina canyon to the islands of Brac, Hvar, Solta, then medium Poljica.

The very purpose of the fort was to defend against the enemy. Fortress is primarily used as a shelter in case the Omis was encircled with a fortress to germs large boulders that would have dismantled the entire city, and thus to destroy the enemy. Today we can be proud that this did not happen and we can enjoy the delights of this beautiful Dalmatian town. From the city center you can reach the fortress well maintained trail with signposts, so no need to worry about losing it. By the fort can be reached by foot from the city, through the village Baučići and climb the fort for 20 - minutes and enjoy the beautiful view.
