He was a true Renaissance man: a humanist, Latin and Croatian writer, historian, scientist, physicist, inventor, philologist, philosopher, one of the greatest Croatian minds of his time, and with his uncle Antun Vrančić greatest scholar and writer in the history of Sibenik.

Vrancic compiled the first major dictionary of Croatian language, as part of the vocabulary containing five most prominent European languages ​​- Latin, Italian, German, Dalmatian (now known as Croatian), and Hungarian. 
Faust showed a special interest in Physics, his research is published in his book "Machinae Novae" (new devices) in which  he described 56 different devices, systems, structures in five languages, most notably the suspension bridge and a parachute. According to the sketch by Leonardo da Vinci, Vrancic made ​​a detailed blueprint parachute called Homo Volans, and constructed the earliest known version of the parachute, and as he wrote, he tested it in practice.
