In the history of Croatian people Samobor occupies a significant place. In the green above the city there are ruins of the once solid and strong-town Samobor. Samobor is a town with ancient ruins from the Stone and Iron Age, and even today keeps the charter of King Bela IV which included the town among the medieval, and distinguished "free royal cities." Since then until today, the historical and cultural heritage in this city and region multiplied. From 1260, when began the construction of the Old town - the history began to record many conflicts and struggles for freedom from domestic and foreign bullies, which is testified by numerous documents and articles.
Samobor is a picturesque town with a preserved old town, with a long excursion and tourist tradition. Long history, rich cultural heritage and attractive surroundings provide him an important place in the overall Croatian tourist offer. It has long been perhaps the most popular resort of locals, who come here to enjoy its unique charm, natural beauty, Samobor popular restaurants, inns and resorts. Tourism has begun to develop at the beginning of the nineteenth. century, and in 1886. founded the "Society for the Beautification of Samobor" precursor Tourism Association.
It lies on the eastern slopes of the Samobor hills at the entrance to the romantic valley of the river Gradna. It is a medieval town, with a population of about 15,000, Baroque architecture, surrounded by broad mountain range, from Okić-town, over Plešivica Ostrc, Big Dol, Lipovac and Japetić to ety.
