Samobor Museum was founded in 1949.  by Ivica Sudnik (since 1925. a collector of material for the museum, its biggest donor and the director from 1948. to 1981.) and Stjepan Oreskovic (historian, poet and translator). The museum is located in the castle from the mid18 century that belonged to Ferdo Livadic, judge, mayor of Samobor and composer.
