It was built in the 14th or 15th century. So peculiar and exotic buildings are extremly rare.

Ideas for weekend

Within the medieval city walls, near the church of St. Andrew, the largest square in the old town - "Plačici", there is one of the most famous and certainly for visitors the most attractive houses in the town of Bakar - Turkish house. It is not known who and when built it, but it is assumed to be built in the 14th or 15 century.
The specificity of Turkey house comes from her oriental architectural styles and features. Even with this style house still fits harmoniously into the surrounding coastal-Mediterranean ambience of the town.
According to one legend, the Turkey house was built by Bakar seaman who, sailed to Constantinople and fell in love with a beautiful Turkish woman. He took her to Bakar, and after a while he continued to sail the seas. However, a young Turkish woman began to grieve for her birthplace. To reduce the nostalgia of his beloved, Bakar sailor said: I will build her a house similar to one in her birthtown. And this was the Turkish house.
