August Senoa is most prolific writer of Croatian 19th century and the true creator of the modern Croatian literature. His first novel, "Goldsmith's Gold" was released in 1871. years and is one of a number of his novels as a template with historical events in the city of Zagreb. Today is Senoa one of the most popular writers of Zagreb and the Croatian required reading for all elementary school students.
