Sibenik-Knin County covers a total area of 5,670 square kilometers, where in five cities and 15 municipalities live 112,891 inhabitants (according to 2001 census.). It is located in the central part of northern Dalmatia, and includes the most beautiful Croatian islands, historically and geographically the most valuable part of the Adriatic coast, and a large, karst Zagora. Sibenik is the administrative, cultural and economic center of the of county. It is located in a protected natural harbor, where they were probably some of the first Croatian settlers saw the beautiful blue sea.
The coast boasts 285 islands, islets and reefs, of which seven are constantly inhabited islands. In the Sibenik-Knin County are two national parks Krka and Kornati. The National Park covers the area along the river Krka. Its deep and vivid flow (75 km long) forms Roški waterfall (26 m high) and the famous Skradinski Buk (46 m high), which is the largest travertine barrier in Europe. For the Sibenik-Knin County Krka River has a special significance, because of water and energy, but also because of its natural and tourist attractions. Kornati National Park encompasses a group of 125 islands, islets and reefs, and the common name is given by the island of Kornati.
Croatia is a European country and is part of the Mediterranean, as it occupies most of the coastline of the Adriatic Sea with the islands. Includes Dinara mountain range, which separates the Mediterranean part from mid-European continental, and part of the Pannonian Basin. The mainland part of the Croatian is 56 594 km2, and the surface of the coastal sea 31,479 km2, and the entire area has 4,290,612 inhabitants. Economic, political and cultural center is the capital city of Zagreb with 792,875 inhabitants. Of 1244 islands and islets, 50 of them are inhabited, and the largest are Cres and Krk. The official currency is the kuna.
