
ROMAN MILITARY CAMP BURNUM
It is situated in the village Ivoševci. It was built in 1. century AD. Remains of the arches that belonged to the military headquarters building and a well preserved amphitheater are still visible.
The remains of a Roman military camp Burnum are located on the right bank of the waterfalls in the area of present-day village IVOŠEVAC. It was built at the turn of the old into the new era, the strategically important position from which to control the river crossing. The camp is absorbed XI. legions of the Roman army, which was of 42 year after AD. bore the honorary title Claudia Pia Fidelis, and after its withdrawal replaced by IV. Legion Flavia Felix.
Today they are particularly visible remains of the arches that belonged preatorium building (headquarters of the camp). Recent research in the military camp revealed quite large amphitheater and an abundance of archaeological material indicates that the camp was created in Claudius, and was expanded and uljepšavan in Vespasian's time.
Search monumental, beautifully written inscription from 76./77. year, which stood at the front over the southern entrance to the amphitheater, clearly confirms the donation of the Emperor Vespasian.
